How to instill the value of cleanliness to your kids
It’s only the second time that you told your 3-year-old to put all his toys back to where he got it and apparently he’s being such a sweet heart and obeying everything you say. He puts all his tiny plastic soldiers inside what you labeled as “the soldier box” and all his match boxes inside the “car box.” Amazing! Perhaps we’re all wishing that we get blessed with obedient toddlers who won’t give us the slightest headache we could possibly have. What most parents are unaware of is that – yes, obedient toddlers are actually made and not born. Below are a few tips to help you instill cleanliness obedience among your little ones.
-
First and foremost, show them that you’re an advocate of cleanliness
yourself. Even a simple activity like taking time to take out your rust removers to clean your rusty bath tub should be enough to give your kids the impression that cleaning the house is very important. When they see that you yourself and all other elders are cleaning their respective niches inside your home, shortly they will follow and clean their own play rooms as well. -
Talk to your kids and explain to them the importance of cleanliness. Give them very simple yet very practical situations. For instance, you can say that if you leave your toy soldiers scattered every where, you will find it hard to locate them the next time that you’ll want to play with them.
-
Teach them basic cleaning tips. Of course, this does not mean going as far as handing them your cleaning products and letting them do the floor scrubbing or the like. This can be as simple as fixing their beds every time they wake up in the morning or maybe making sure that the bathroom is left clutter-free because his toothbrush is placed in the proper place where it should be.
-
Be a role model. Tell the other older ones like older brothers and sisters to be advocates of cleanliness themselves.
-
Sure you want to impose cleanliness inside you home but make sure to always put safety ahead of everything. Because of this, it is highly advised that you use only natural cleaning products as often as possible. As we all know, most commercial cleaners contain toxins which can be very harmful to people’s health especially to kids.
Keep these tips in mind and transform your toddlers into cleanliness advocates!
